Market Risks You Must Understand
The following risks are inherent to mutual fund investing. BullWiser's scores do not eliminate or reduce these risks — they are structural features of capital markets that no analytical tool can protect against.
Principal Risk Factors
- Market Risk: The NAV of mutual fund schemes fluctuates with market movements. You may receive less than the amount you invest. Equity funds in particular carry high short-term volatility.
- Credit Risk: Debt mutual funds invest in bonds and other fixed-income instruments. If an issuer defaults, the fund's NAV can fall sharply. Credit risk is not captured in BullWiser's scoring as robustly as returns or expense ratios.
- Liquidity Risk: In stressed market conditions, certain securities held by a fund may be difficult to sell at fair value. Some funds may impose temporary restrictions on redemptions (side-pocketing, gates).
- Interest Rate Risk: Bond prices fall when interest rates rise. Long-duration debt funds are especially sensitive to rate changes.
- Concentration Risk: Funds with high exposure to a single sector, theme, or issuer carry additional risk from adverse developments in that area.
- Inflation Risk: Returns from debt funds or conservative hybrid funds may not outpace inflation in all market conditions, eroding real purchasing power.
- Currency Risk: International or global funds carry exposure to foreign exchange fluctuations, which can amplify or reduce returns for Indian investors.
- Regulatory Risk: SEBI regulations governing mutual funds, taxation rules (LTCG, STCG, ELSS lock-ins), and TDS provisions may change. Taxation impacts vary by investor category — consult a tax adviser.

- BullWiser's historical return calculations are based on publicly available NAV data. These calculations have not been audited by any external financial authority.
- Simulations (SIP or lump sum calculators) show projected values based on assumed constant return rates. Actual returns will differ — sometimes significantly — from projections.

NAV data can lag by up to 24 hours. Expense ratio data can lag by up to 40 days. Portfolio holdings data can lag by up to 40 days. Fund scores are recalculated weekly — not in real time. Do not use BullWiser data for real-time trading or arbitrage decisions.
