✍️ Editorial Standards

How We Research, Write & Review

BullWiser's commitment to accuracy, independence, and transparency — how content is created, fact-checked, and kept up to date.

Why Editorial Standards Matter for Finance

Personal finance is a YMYL (Your Money or Your Life) domain — inaccurate information can directly harm people's financial wellbeing. BullWiser takes this seriously. Every claim we make about a fund, every number we publish, and every article we write follows a defined process designed to be accurate, verifiable, and free from commercial bias.

This page documents that process in full. We believe that if you can't explain how your content is made, the content isn't trustworthy.

Who Creates BullWiser's Content

Deepak Jha
Founder · Developer · Author

Deepak is the founder, developer, and sole content creator at BullWiser.com. He has been an active investor in Indian equity markets and mutual funds for over a decade, having personally navigated multiple market cycles including the 2020 COVID crash, 2021 bull run, and subsequent volatility periods. He built BullWiser's scoring algorithms from first principles, drawing on his experience as an investor who found existing fund-rating platforms opaque and commission-driven.

All content on BullWiser — from scoring methodology documentation to blog articles — is written, reviewed, and published by Deepak. He is accountable for every claim on this platform.

Types of Content on BullWiser

Algorithmic
Fund Scores & Rankings
BullWiser Scores are computed algorithmically from AMFI data. No human editorial judgement is applied to individual fund scores. The algorithm is fully documented in our Methodology page.
Educational
Blog Articles
Articles explaining investing concepts, fund categories, market events, and personal finance strategy for Indian investors. Written by Deepak, fact-checked against official sources before publication.
Documentation
Platform Pages
Pages explaining how BullWiser works — this page, Methodology, Data Sources, and Disclaimer. These are reviewed and updated whenever the underlying process or data pipeline changes.
Calculated
SIP / Lump Sum Projections
Calculator outputs are mathematical projections based on user-entered assumptions and historical fund returns. These are not forecasts — they carry the same past-performance caveats as all quantitative analysis.

How Blog Articles Are Created

01
Research from Primary Sources
Articles begin with research from SEBI circulars, AMFI disclosures, RBI publications, and court judgements — not from secondary sources or third-party aggregators. Where statistics are cited, the original source document is identified.
02
Fact-Check Against Data
Quantitative claims (fund AUM, returns, TER ranges, category definitions) are cross-checked against AMFI's published data and BullWiser's own database before they appear in any article.
03
Review for Accuracy & Bias
Articles are reviewed for factual accuracy and for any unintentional commercial bias. No article recommends a specific fund by name. General analytical frameworks are preferred over specific fund picks.
04
Publish with Date Stamp
Every article carries a publish date and a "last updated" date. Time-sensitive claims (regulation changes, tax rules) are flagged for periodic review. Outdated articles are updated or marked with a stale-content notice.

Our Editorial Independence Policy

✅ What BullWiser Does

  • Makes all editorial decisions independently, without input from AMCs, distributors, or financial intermediaries
  • Publishes negative analysis of funds that score poorly — even if those funds are from large, well-known AMCs
  • Actively educates users on the cost difference between Regular and Direct plans — which directly reduces distributor revenue
  • Links to official SEBI and AMFI sources so users can verify claims independently
  • Discloses any future revenue sources, partnerships, or conflicts of interest on this page

❌ What BullWiser Does Not Do

  • Does not publish sponsored articles, advertorials, or paid fund write-ups — no AMC can pay to be featured positively
  • Does not accept "exclusive data" or "early access" from AMCs in exchange for favourable coverage
  • Does not participate in affiliate schemes that earn commissions for directing users to specific funds or platforms
  • Does not suppress or soften negative analysis of any fund, category, or AMC for commercial reasons
  • Does not allow PR agencies or investor relations teams at AMCs to review content before publication

Correction & Update Policy

BullWiser takes factual accuracy seriously. We have a clear process for handling errors:

Types of Corrections

  • Minor corrections (typos, formatting): Fixed silently without notice.
  • Factual corrections (wrong number, outdated regulation): Article is updated with the correct information and a note added: "Correction: [original claim] has been updated to [correct claim] as of [date]."
  • Algorithmic corrections (scoring formula bug): The Methodology page is updated, affected fund scores are recalculated, and a changelog entry is added to the Methodology page noting the date and nature of the change.
  • Data corrections (error in source data from AMFI/MFApi.in): If a source data error is identified, we note it in our Data Sources page and flag affected fund scores as UNDER EVALUATION until corrected data is available.

How to Report an Error

If you believe any content on BullWiser is factually incorrect or misleading, please contact us via the About page. Include the specific claim, the URL where it appears, and a reference to the correct information. We aim to investigate and respond within 5 business days.

How Content is Kept Current

Content Review Schedule

  • Fund scores: Recalculated automatically every week from fresh AMFI data. No manual review required.
  • Methodology page: Reviewed and updated whenever the scoring algorithm or data pipeline changes. Changes logged with date.
  • Data Sources page: Updated when new data sources are added or existing source reliability changes.
  • Blog articles: Articles covering SEBI regulations, tax rules, or market events are reviewed quarterly for continued accuracy. Articles more than 12 months old with time-sensitive claims are flagged for review.
  • Legal pages (Privacy, Terms, Disclaimer): Reviewed and updated at minimum annually, or immediately when a change in practice or law requires it.

All platform documentation pages (this page, Methodology, Data Sources, Disclaimer) carry a "Last Updated" date at the bottom so you can verify recency.
